graphite sketch rose

The technique of blending with a stump or tortillion was used to help portray the softness of the rose petals. I blended in the direction which the rose petals grow to help acheive the feeling of slight veining. The softer grades of pencil seem to work  best for this technique; 2B and up. This drawing was done on Canson Sketch,—a nice paper— but the tablet is several years old, so it may’ve changed by  now.
